Here's a Mystery for You. Can U solve it? 200

The 89 240 wouldn't start this afternoon. Strong battery, didn't need a jump. I go through all the standards; fuses, swap out the FPR, crank sensor, banging on the fuel pump, alternator, starter, etc. No good. After a call to my beloved Volvo mechanic, he convinces me to try swapping out with his spare fuel control unit. Lo and behold, it now works. Engine runs even better than before.

BUT, now here is the mystery.

The headlights don't work, but the left parking and left tail lights work. I rechecked the fuse. What gives? Anyone care to take a guess? Any thougths on replacing the fuel control unit? They are very expensive. Anyone know where to get a good used one cheap? Ebay? Thanks for listening.
