How to install Torque arm bushings... 200 1991

Well. I've decided that the easiest place to start with the wierd noise on deceleration are the torque rod bushings. Got them out, but can't get the new ones in. Tried making a tool inspired by 240 NEWbie, but just can't get the bushing to start in square. This is much tougher than the trailing arm bushing.
Anyone have a method?
Is a machine shop the only way to go?
