Oxygen Sensor problem narrowed down but not fixed 200 1991

Been battling a check engine light 2-1-2 code for over a month. Took a few wrong turns, but the Brickboard set me straight each time.

Finally determined that the power to the O2 sensor heater is intermittant. Of course, it it always powered when it is in the garage and I have my meter out, but I carried my meter to work last week and caught it a couple of times when both sides of fuse #4 were hot, but the plug to the sensor heater was dead.

I tried to trace the yellow/red wire from the sensor to the fuse. All plugs looked fine, but I unplugged and re-plugged each one several times to clean the connections.

No check engine light in the last two days, but I never really found a problem, so I don't trust it enough to give it back to my daughter.

Is it a good idea to solder a wire to the yellow/red just below the sensor plug, and run directly back to the right side of fuse #4? The wiring diagram in Chiltons looks like that should work. 'Course, with my luck, it will turn out that the break is in only part of the circuit I didn't bypass - the plug that the sensor plugs in to.

Thanks!
