Bumpers 444-544 1958

Tony, I don't know about current prices for new, but $2,000 for rechroming the originals seems out of line to me.

The bumpers from my 444 project car and 544 donor car were much worse than yours - dented, twisted and needing some welding on the little uprights. I used the best of what I had and a local shop straightened and rechromed the entire set - front, rear and all of the bars for $800. I'm no expert and maybe the chrome will fall off soon, but to my eye they look fine.

This plater is a fellow pilot at the local airport and maybe he gave me a "deal", but I doubt that he would give me that much of a discount. I think it would be worthwhile to check some more on rechroming. I have set my Volvo project aside for a few months while I do an old house renovation. In this process I have been simply amazed at the range of prices I get on quotes for what I cannot do myself.
