An alternative to $61 Bosch 'VOLVO' fog light covers on ebay 200

I just saw a set of those pretty rare fog light covers with 'VOLVO' on them go for $61 dollars on ebay. That's over half the price of a brand new set of Bosch fog lights! So I thought I'd share with you how I got a set of those covers for under 5$.

1. Went to the junkyard and took a set of fog light covers from a Subaru.
Cost - Free (guy laughed when I offered to pay for them)

(Also, I couldn't find any Volvo ones which of course would have made the process a whole lot quicker).

2. I took said covers home and sanded off the SUBARU logo. Using gradually finer sand paper I achieved the desired result in less than an hour.
Cost - Free (I also do wood working as another hobby and have tons of sand paper)

3. I then went online and found a Volvo logo that I copied and pasted and adjusted to the desired size to fit the fog light covers.
Cost - a few cents for printer ink and a piece of paper

4. I took a piece of construction paper (remember Grade 3?) and made a stencil out of the logo. (It's best not to use scissors but rather a very sharp craft knife to deal with the detail of the lettering)
Cost - a few cents again for the construction paper

5. I bought some white spray paint and used the stencil to transfer the Volvo logo onto the sanded and pre-painted (black) fog light covers.
Cost - a couple bucks for spray paint.

The result was surprisingly good, and even more satisfyingly cheap. I only offer this as a suggestion to those who want a set of those covers, and have found similar difficulty in finding them or in ability to pay $61 for them.

I don't have pictures handy, but this is an easy and fun thing to do and I guarantee you will be pleased with the results. The result, however, will ultimately depend on how well you fabricate the stencil. Cutting corners, literally, will not look as good as being meticulous. But then again, who among us Brickboarders isn't meticulous?
