OK Monday, here in Texas, it was cold and on the way to work i had to use the heater, but there was no heat - ok - not such a shocker - slide the temp selector and still only a "trickle" of temp change...
Proceeding further on the Hwy and i noticed a jump in the temp guage
Pulled off Hwy and tried to fly thru a side street
While sitting at a Left turn light it redlined and 20 secs later a "POP" and steam coming from the hood - turned into a parking lot (of a mechanic) killed it -Found that the top rad. Hose blew up!
Later that day I replaced said hose with a new therm. and everything seemed to work FINE
TODAY... on my way HOME from work and while at a light i smelt antifreeze and saw my temp gauge climb
Pulled off AGAIN and popped hood to see that the lower hose had freed itself with the clamp - i figure a not so tight connection
Got some help to deliver antifreeze and the guage just CLIMBED!
Pulled Therm to see if it was not the correct fit
Turned the Heater on and cold air...
Drove it around the lot and got nothing but a "trickle" but guage CLIMBED
Hmm
Filled it up and drove it home to get to a safer spot
During the drive I observed this:
I turn the heater on and i got heat!
Turn it off (blue setting) and the guage CLIMBED...
Did this two times more to prove the fluke, but it's not
Oh, might add that I have been rather reluctant on changing the fluid in 2 years since the guage barely even read a temp AND I recently changed the temp sensor and now i get a reading allll the time...
Also when i purchased this fine vehicle the previous owner told me he fabbed a locking system to keep the clutch fan on permanently.. i removed the "locks" just a year after and no change then...
What's making the coolant blockage?
