'87 240 will not start (trying to help g/f from out of town)

Hello..... I searched for and could not find.... does the 87 240 have the ignition amplifier (power stage) on it????

My girlfriend's wagon died on her last night, it was running fine and just conked out at a stop sign, she got it towed home but it will not start and I'm out of town so I'm not there to help. What I do know is:
1) timing belt is ok
2) fuel pumps and relay are ok
3) fuses are all good
4) coil is new (neighbor put one on it today)

The car isn't getting any spark. I just read some of the archives about the ign. amplifier and it makes sense but I also saw mention it wasnt used until '89??

Does this car have a Crank Trigger Sensor?? Could that be the culprit?? Where is it located??

I sure do appreciate any help you can offer! Thanks... Kurt
