Odometer failure at high speeds 700 1989

Hi

I've noticed a pattern with 89 740 odometer (Yazuki). At high speeds, around 3000rpm above which is about 80-90mph the odometer would stop working. First time it happened it went dead for 50km or so then came back alive again. The last episode it went dead for 150km and was all right again the next day.

Any clue as to what's going on? Could it be the gear as mentioned in the FAQ? I assume if it's the gear the odometer would stop working permanently.

BTW all other instruments in the cluster eg speedometer etc are working fine.

Appreciate any advice.
