I went back and read the statement from the design lead and nearly puked:
"Now we're elevating our design DNA to an entirely new level by literally pumping up our cars' visual volume."
What is "visual volume"? And why is "pumping" it up better? He might as well say "we're adding a bunch of useless gimgracks and curvy body panels to make the car look bigger than it really is, in order to make drivers feel more manly and compensate for small weenie size and inadequate exercise."
Is "design DNA" the heritage of a brand? Previous car designs? How does this car elevate that in any way? He should say "We're disregarding our design DNA... and copying Japan."
The fact that they need to adjust the rear to "feature bolder lettering to boost brand identity" shows they know they need to scream the name of the car so you don't confuse it for an Infinity FX.

I will give the designers props for not making a car that's as ugly as the Subaru Tribeca.
