Code P0116 S90-V90

I had this same problem last summer and it kept coming back more frequently. I monitored this sensor and found that there was a sudden drop in temp. followed by a sharp recovery. Turned out to be that the coolant temp. sensor had a connector right at the sensor, I sprayed Wd40 inside the connector on both the wire and temp. sensor side and reset the code and it never happened again.
