Lower Steering u-joint 200

Just when you think you done it all. Was working on one of the Volvo 240's yesterday and noticed that the lower steering u-joint has play in it and needs to be replaced. I've never done this before and have a few questions.

1.) Is it the lower one that usually goes bad or should both upper and lower be changed at the same time?

2.) Are the upper and lower the same part?

3.) Would a used upper be good to replace a bad lower or would I be better getting the 75 maval at fcp or eEuro.

4.) I got I pretty good idea how the lower one comes off but would like any hints or tips. It has SRS so are there any additional pre-cautions?
