The inside of the cooling system - is this normal? 700 1989

Greetings

Did a coolant flush on me 740. Have been using distilled water with only volvo coolant for the past 5 years. Flush every 2 years.

I've always wondered if what I've been seeing every time I do a flush is normal, so this time around I took a photo of the insides. The thermostat with its housing have been removed. Is this considered ok for a car of this age? How does this compares with yours? Any comments or advice welcomed. Thanks
