No intermittent delay on wipers. Only once 200 1991

Hi: I have a 1991 Volvo 240, B230F engine. Approx. 175,000 miles.

The intermittent wipers do not work correctly. When the wiper stalk on the steering column is move to the “up” position the wipers will delay briefly as normal and then continue to run with no intermittent delay.

All other wiper operations are normal and work correctly (low, fast, and spray washer fluid). It is only the intermittent delay that does not work correctly.

The wipers park correctly after running them.

What I have done so far in the troubleshooting is as follows:

1. Clean all the ground connections for the intermittent wiper relay.

2. I have replaced (twice) the intermittent wiper relay with known
good ones from my other 240’s.

3. I have even re-soldered the circuit board on the relay.

All of this has produced no change. The intermittent function still operates as described above. “will delay briefly as normal and then continue to run with no intermittent delay.”

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks.. Mr. Tool
