wobbly shifter/hot and humid trunk compartment 200 1987

Hi! I would sure need some help, how do you rectify/correct/repair a 1987 200 gl automatic shifter that is wobbly, shifter is loose and does not stay in the exact shift position (functions correctly but is always 1 position lower).

What is the ideal clearance in between the rear muffler and the trunk flooring, the trunk area is so hot and humid even after a short drive? The previous owner had the muffler replaced, I suspect it was installed very near the trunk flooring.

Lastly, can somebody please advise me what to check as far as my seatbelt warning light/buzzer is concerned. It sometimes go on and off, sometimes for the passenger side amd sometimes for the driver side. It's driving me crazy!
