Tail light question 200

On the 1989 240 dl can the lense be seperated from the rest of the tail light ass'y? The reason I am asking this is, whe your looking at the driverside tail light ass'y, the White socket some how shorted out and fused to the rest of the circute board. Also if the lense can be seperated please tell me how. I looked at it and I am compleetly puzeled. Thanks for any help.
