Heater core/fan motor replacement, little questions:)

Hi I'm bonzo's son working on that 90' 240 wagon, heater core/ fan replacement. Just had a few little questions.
1) Is it easier to disconnect all the ventilation ductwork to get it out? Also on that note, what about those rubber hangers that hold the ductwork up? The two slide out easily but the other one in the middle looks like you have to break it to get the duct out??
2) I've read a couple of d.i.y. pictorials on this process but was wondering what exactly i DON"T need to take apart.. Kind of backwards i know, but i was thinking maybe i could get away with not taking the whole dash out, or maybe not taking the
duct controls(floor/d-frost/etc..)right in front of the shifter out..
3) If anybody has any good advice after doing this themselves, or warnings for that matter i would greatly appreciate it, since this is my first time attempting something this big..
Thanks, Caylen
