945 heater control 900

I recentlly replaced the heater core in a 1993 945,
Can not seem to get any heat now on occasion it will blast heat though.
temp control knob seems to have no function at all.
have checked vacum lines for crimping and restrictions, found none
somebody give me a hand if at all possible.
