Timing Belt Gone Mad 900 1993

I had replaced a heater hose and water valve last night in my 940 (non-turbo), and I noticed that the cover on my timing belt had worn through, like the timing belt was coming towards the radiator, I drove the car approxmately a mile and it had moved a couple millimeters toward the radiator.. Do I need a new belt or does it need a tensioner of some sort... Any help even remotely unrelated will be greatly appreciated....
