B-30 options

This thread is a continuation of the above thread and I don't want to reopen a can of worms like the B-20 compression ratio thread, but without spending thousands and thousands, how should I rebuild my 1974 164 B-30 engine. I can't remember which engine is which, E or F (mine is the low performance version), but can a high compression version be built up and will it live on pump gas? Are cams different and still available? If my engine has 138 hp and 154 ft/lb what are the different versions makeing and what does it take to get? I realize that no matter what, I need hardened exhaust seats.

I don't really need all that much more power, and with a 3.73 rear end, I should still be able to scare the hell out of myself.

Also, since I am looking for information from across the Volvo brands, which catagories should I be posting my inquiries into? RWD or all of them individualy?

Thanks,James
