Road noise

My wife is complaining about the road noise level in our 85 740 wagon. Engine noise seems well controlled but wind noise sems high and if I tug on the top of the doors I can hear it get less. Differing road surfaces make a big change too so I am sure there is potential for improvement.
Has anyone made a project of this and got some really good proven ideas?

Is the sunroof a major contributor? How hard is it to replace those seals?
Can the door seals be softened up by application of a product?
Do I need to put a load of felt inside the doors and under the carpet?

I had an annoying ticking sound which turned out to be VDO unit under the dash. I guess it throws up a reminder light every 30,000 miles for something. Mine is now in the garage.

thks
