Control arm replacement. 200

I think I'd have the alignment done. You'll have everything apart in the front so you really should. Certainly if the old bushings were worn, or if the old control arms were bent in any way, the wheels are now in a different place.

As far as installing the big control arm bushing into the frame mounts, I have always just tapped them in with a hammer.

I use a chisel or punch to collapse the shell of the bushing and it pretty much falls out of the hole in the bracket when you do that.

One response here contains a pertinent warning for bushing replacement, but won't apply if you're doing new arms with new bushings: the sleeve of the big bushing does sometimes freeze onto the shoulder of the stud at the rear of the front control arms. Hammer, chisel, vise-grips, torch, grinder, verbal abuse... choose your weapons if this is the case. It happens.
