lack of power under boost 700 1987

Recently we installed a used engine in our 740t everthing went well untill we tried to restart a hot engine,it was extremly rich. Our friend works on Volvo's(not professionaly) and he found that we had the engine coolant temp sensor and the knock sensor plugs reversed on the harness, the hot start problem is fixed but now the engine lacks power under boost,it feels like the timing is not advancing under boost.Did something get damaged by having the connectors reversed like the igniton computer?Should there be a reference voltage signal to the knock sensor with the key on engine off or on?Were almost there on this project!Any help appreciated.
Austin
