Happy New Years to all of you.
Here's something strange (initially disconcerting)....
Yesterday morning I had pulled out my instrument cluster (first time to the cluster -- the antitamper clip was still on the speedo plug) to swap the clock, among other things (renewing the bulbs, etc.), for a large tach. And as I withdrew the clock, I found a capacitor (a.k.a., condenser) rolling around inside. It's a "can" type, pale blue, and marked "PH 036, C7 KO C7" on the side as well as "220u, Q, 16v" on its top. It's wires look like they fractured, a clean break rather than snipped, with no signs of any remnant of solder.
Well, naturally I was concerned that possibly I had jarred it off from the speedo/odo- circuit board. But when I reinstalled it, everything is working fine (the only thing I can't confirm immediately is the counter for the service reminder, but if that annoyance is broken, so much the better ;-).
I don't suppose anyone knows where this capacitor belonged, but I was wondering if anyone else ever found loose pieces in there?

By the way, I installed Dave Barton's custom faces (white on blue, with "Rallye Sport" logos) on the gauges, including two additional 52mm gauges on the right side, and they look great. I recommend his product. Thanks for coming up with this stuff, Dave.
