AW71 not working DO I NEED SOLENOID

Now that is the type of answer I was looking for, just some elbow grease and ingenuity to fix a problem. I agree with you that it is a stupid engineered option. (Aisin Warner???) Like you mentioned my old 242GT had a real over drive even if it was electricly activated. Like your AH you talked about, had a similar set up in an old Rover 3000 and an old Peugeot.
I'm glad you were reading the board and send me in the right direction. I'll try to cancel my order.
As I already have the old solenoid (that was/is good) because I replaced it, I'll modify that one B-4 hand and replace it with the expensive new one I bought.
(Anybody interested in a good slightly used original Volvo solenoid?)

Again thanks for the excellent tip I must search the board better to have found it.
