Dead fuel gauge 82 245 and other issues. 200 1982

Hi all,

Firstly I cant find my Volvo Manuals and Im in the process of getting a manual 245 (B21)680'000 Km ready for a roadworthy check before registration and after adding 20 lt of fuel to the thing I noticed the fuel gauge is still hard on empty.

Ive had the car for 2 years (An Ebay purchase) and havent done a thing to it till a few days ago, fuel tank was dry so im suspecting the sender unit but I thought id throw the question to the board.

On top of this ive got to replace the headlamp reflectors and as im used to earlier 200 series im not 100% sure how to get the lights out as my other volvos have all been 1979 and earlier.
Any clues or tips?

Ive also got 2 replacement (Non genuine) tail light units as well as the original ones are cracked.

Issue 3 is obviously a high mileage issue as the front left strut/shock absorber is knackered and I need to remove it (Actually both of em) and replace with a suitable unit so whats the easiest way to do this?

Once the car is registered and roadworthy im planning on dropping a B23 I have here in my parts car into the wagon and im not sure if I can do a straight swap and use the manifolds and intake system from the original B21.

Parts? Anyone suggest a good parts supplier in Melbourne Victoria Australia? or even an Ebay seller which is where I got the headlamp bits and tail light lenses.

And finally my parts donor car is a 79 245, its been upgraded to the B23 and driveline and suspension is A1 as this was my last Volvo project before I gave up on them for a few years, does anyone know how compatible they are for bits like front end, tank sender etc plus im curious as to the differences between the B21 and B23 (I was told my B23 was a low friction engine and has a black rocker with red Volvo on it.)And as I cant find my Manuals im working kinda clueless here (Couldnt even find any in PDF format lol)

BTW heres some pic links of my project in Photobucket, the red wagon is the project and the white wagon is my donor.

Many thanks in advance,

Tony
