Glad you didn't give up on it.
Seems that unlike your 544, this was just a "flesh wound."

I've kept a nose and hood from a '72 145 for the past 13 years in the hopes that someone could use it someday for just this kind of repair. Looks like that type of thinking got you back on the road.
Nice going.

(Now if I could only get rid of my parts!)
