Driver's side door clunk open, requires a bit of force to close 700 1990

Hey,

I'm considering adjusting my driver's side door because it isn't as soft to open and close as the others. It's one of the things I like about my volvo's, but this one door if I don't give it enough force to close it will only close halfway and not seal properly. I have to give it an extra bump.

Also when opening the door clunks as the door is released, and I think the latch isn't lined up well enough with the hook on the body.

All the posts I found seem to indicate trying to adjust is a time consuming process, but I think the latch on the door needs to come down about a mm or so to meet smoother with the hook.

Is this feasible without causing great headache by getting it all out of adjustment? Do I adjust loosen the bolts on the door and then move the door slightly downwards?

Thanks,
Nathan
