Engine Running Rough Puzzle 200

For the past year I've been trying to remedy a rough running engine at idle. Checked the usual suspects, wihtout luck. Checked all the points where a vacuum leak could be with quick start, pinched all the vacuum hoses, changed the int maniforld gasket. New plug wires, oxy sensor. Runs good, always starts, get 25mph (manual 5-speed), but runs rough at idle. Today I put an inductive pu tach on the engine and checked rpm while I removed one plug wire at a time from the dist cap. Normal rpm is 780-950, up and down. Three of the wires made a drop to 750-850, but one wire caused an INCREASE to 900-1100. I can't figure that out. If anyone has some insight into this, please share with me. And if you can suggest anything else I can check for the rough running. Thanks.
