OD Paddle Removal 120-130

I've got an overdrive switch from my old 1971 1800E. It's all wired up and works well. However, I really don't care for the black knob-thing on the end of the later style switch and would prefer to use the proper paddle that would match my turn signal/dimmer switch. I know that I could drop $30.00+ on a nice new one from IPD, but I already have a spare turn signal switch and paddle and if I can remove the paddle w/o destroying it, I'd rather reuse something I have as opposed to buying a replacement that won't match in color or patina.

Any ideas on how to free the spare paddle. I'm thinking maybe a solvent of some sort to dissolve the old glue...?
