What was the reason for replacing the rack in the first place???

I get a wierd noise when turning right sometimes while the car is not moving or moving very slow 1-2km/h. Its like something is binding a little for a bit and then its gone.. I am not sure if its somehting like a balljoint/tierod socket not being good, but its wierd that its only on right hand turns.
