Intermittent Starting Problem 200 1991

neutral safety switch - I did try moving the shifter to neutral and wiggling it around with no effect. Next time I will move the shifter throughout the range

Solenoid - The solenoid has acted strangely in that sometime it takes a second or two to disengage the starter once the key is released.

I have not checked for volts at the solenoid, hard to do by yourself! I will check if the problem reoccurs.

To bypass the solenoid use to screw drivers on the large connection both on solenoid?

Can the solenoid be replaced without removing starter? My guess is no.

Will a starter work intermittently?

I will also check starter ground, is that a separate wire?

Thanks for your help, the car has been starting fine since a battery replacement but I have not really solved anything yet as the old (8 months) battery tests good. Can the battery be intermittent?

Dan
