Loss of power at low RPM 900 1993

My wife's car (1993 940 Turbo Wagon, 100K) has developed an odd problem and I am at a loss to explain it. It seems to have lost all it's power below 3000 or so RPMs. It just ramps up very slowly when starting out from a dead stop, which has made busy intersections rather a challenge. It starts fine, runs ok and once it gets past 3000, although a little gutless, feels ok. It does not buck or chug, nor does it howl from the intake when I put the gas to the floor. It just doesn't want to go. It also has a small lope at idle (which seems a bit low to me) rythmically rolling from slightly above 500 rpm to about 750 rpm. On a whim, I disconnected the TPS and the idle came up a bit and leveled out, which makes me suspicious but the car doesn't seem to exhibit any of the other symptoms listed in the FAQ.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
