No Headlights , 1987 245 dl. Please Help, Need to drive home from work at night. 200

My headlights quit working shortly after leaving the brights on with the car off for an hour or so. The running lights operate correctly in both posistions on the headlight switch ( on in first posistion and on in second posistion when key is turned .). The high beams operate only when you hold the high beam switch and they shut off after you let the stalk go. Other than that no headlights. What do the relays look like , what components are involved in the headlight circuit. Ie switched relays fuses, I need to fix this asap. Thanks guys. Note I have a voltmeter and a bentley repair manual. I thumbed through but could not find any info on headlight trouble shooting nor ne methods to test relays. Thanks.
