Hello Pearl:

When you reattach the rod ensure you do not swap the ends. No big deal if you do, but you want to arrange it so that turning the rod in the direction the wheels rotate will thread out the ends, increasing toe. Turning the rod in the reverse direction of wheel rotation will decrease toe. You will need to adjust your toe after making your swap so check this thread for some handy tips from George and others:
