940 Fuel Filter Change 900 1995

Hi all,

I am changing the fuel filter on my 95 940. I generally don't work on anything involving the fuel system because of the hazards, but the car drove into the garage and now won't start.

Spark is good and timing is OK. Troubleshooting the fuel system, the first thing that came up was that I have neglected to replace the fuel filter. I'm estimating the one currently in the car has at least 75,000 miles on it. The fittings were rusted solid and I ended up having to cut the old one out by slicing the fuel line on the input side. I'm optimistic this is the problem because I am unable to blow any air through it. I got a new fuel line from Volvo and everything seems set to go back in.

My question is should the fittings go back together dry or with some kind of teflon tape or other sealing compound like plumbers use?

Roger
