Warning to 95-98 960-S90 owners

Well I had a parking brake cable break. It was a Mother to fix since the gas tank had to be dropped to fix it. While I was at it I replaced all the cables as well as the parking brake shoes. Parts were $172 and labor ran $300 at $40 per hour at a local shop. The Volvo tech that fixed it said they see at least one or two a month at the dealer he works at. So this seems to be a normal occurring problem with these cars as they get older. So think about putting a few bucks away for when it happens to yours. Dealer is 7-8 hours X book rate and I got jobber rate on parts so add 30% to the parts price I paid if you buy them over the counter.
