Just bought my first 700 series. A couple of questions. 700

I just bought a 1990 740 gle (220,000 kms) which I believe is a 16 valve, I'm not sure. I noticed upon cold start that it stalled twice (the tach rose sharp when starting about 1000 rpm but settled) but no other problems. It idled a bit rough compared to my 240. It passed the emmisions testing and will be certified. Is there anything to be aware of or I should do to the car before taking my 240 off the road for extensive surgery. Can anyone confirm that the gle is 16 valves. Should I get the timing belt done as per FAQ. Any weaknesses with this car I should watch out for.

Thanks in advance

Chris.
