Heater control valve temp sensor wire, missing on new valve! 200 1990

Hi all,
I just noticed, don't know why i didn't see it before, that the new heater control valve doesn't have a little temp sensor wire attached. This is the wire that comes out of the left ventricle of the heater unit, then attaches (to the old) heat control valve. Is this just not needed or am i missing something.
Thanks
cp
heres the pic of the wire i'm talking about
