Installing new fan motor in heatercore project?? 200 1990

Hi all
Ugh, well i had the heater unit all put back together when i realized the fan motor had to be installed wrong because i couldn't fit the right impeller blade all the way on. So i took it all back apart to re-check the installation. The question is which side of the two halves does the fan motor mount to? I had it on the left side of the heater unit. That didn't work, so i put it right in the middle of the two halves and checked the right impeller..seemed to fit on correctly. So I'm assuming that the fan motor mounts in between the two halves, however i wasn't sure because this makes the two halves not flush, (maybe not an issue)at least right in the front.
Also i'm not sure where the green resistor installs now either. Does that go in the middle as well or does it go on the left side? (I'm actually not sure how that part works anyway, does it have to be touching the motor housing? like metal to metal or...?)
Heres some pics i took to help explain the issue

thanks again cp.
