960 with an intermittant battery light 900 1992

I have a "new"
to me 92 960 that
I have put 1000 miles on.
The first 900 miles have been great
Recently, the battery light comes on for the
first 2 or 3 miles and then goes out.
The light will flash occasinally but stays
out for the most part. I have had 3-4 240's
and not familiar with the with the 6cyl at all. Should
I be looking at the belt tensioner?
Any suggestions appreciated.
