o2 sensor failure again 900 1993

I have replaced my O2 sensor twice so far and it seems like it is about to fail again. ( intermitent rough idle, occasional missfiring ). What can cause the O2 sensor to fail like this, it has been through 2 so far in less than 6 months and it looks like I will be needing another one.
