Intake Manifold to Valve Cover hose 200 1979

1979 242 DL Lamda Sond, B21F engine, 4 spd manual.

I've got a busted plastic nipple connection on the hose from the intake manifold to the valve cover. The big plastic "T" has a plastic nipple that broke off inside the hose. This "T" junction accepts a big hose from the air filter and continues to the valve cover.

What is the purpose of this "T" connection and associated hoses? I notice that the idle is much higher when this hose from the intake manifold to the "T" junction is not connected.

Any ideas what this is called and where I might find a replacement?
