Charging system woes 140-160

If you're bypassing the VR you'd better be using a later alt with an internal regulator...

All of my Bosch charging problems have thus far been Voltage regulator issues. And there haven't been many

What is your battery voltage
off -should be 12.4 or so
cranking -should not drop to more than 10 (I think)
running -max should be 13.4 or so
?

a lot of bad can happen to a battery in a short amount of time. If your readings are low try adding some distilled water if the fluid level is low as well.

Alternators are pretty easily sourced and affordable through
swedishpartswholesale.com

or go to the parts store and say you want a '74 140 series w/ air conditioning alternator and you'll get a rebuilt 55a. And get a new regulator with it.

I like keeping things pretty stock, but there are other options to make use of more modern units.

have a blast, aim away from face, and so on.
