240-140 starter swap 140-160 1974

Just wondering what some of you have done when trading starters out. I was dismayed but not necessarily surprised when the 240 has a larger, longer, and metric attatching bolt. The 140 has No. 14 std bolts, the top one is not coming out due to the tight space between the bellhousing and the body. The Diameter of the bolts from the 240 don't even fit through the bellhousing hole.

I'm going to try locknuts on the old starter, but worry about it not being permenant. tried repairing the threads, but they're too worn. in any case nothing larger will work due to the diameter of the hole.

Somebody must have made this swap... Any thoughts?

Many thanks, -Sean
