OO2 oxygen sensor: Form, Fit, Function 200 1989

Guys,

I was looking into purchasing a new O2 sensor.
I wonder, the "universal" ones...

It seems as though they come in 1 wire, two wire, three wire, 4 wire...

Noone ever mentions the thread size.
I have no expoerience with o2 sensors.

Q:
1. Are all (most, say europeen) cars supposed to have the same thread size?
2. Functionally, does it go by the number of wires, i.e. a univesal 2-wire to replace "any" two wire?

Are they basically that generic???

Hope some o2 gurus can reply. Thanks.
