Looking for some buying advice 900 1993

Hi everyone, I wonder if someone here might help me? I owned a 764 turbo that died (radiator exploded on the highway) about a year ago, and I'm just now looking to replace it with something similar. There's a long story in the interim that involves a Mercury Tracer station wagon, but that's neither here nor there. Anyway, I have my eye on a two-owner 1993 944 w/175k on it. It's been in the same family since '95 and they have all their service records. It's 100% up to date and has always been very well cared for. There is no rust, and it's very clean inside and out. No electrical problems, either. The ever-present "but", however, is that it leaks transmission fluid. The owner told me it's been leaking for a little over a year, and she has to have it topped off at every oil change, but that it doesn't leak enough to start slipping in that 3000-mile interval. She doesn't know how much they have to actually add back in, she just tells them it's usually low and they top it off for her without measuring how much they put in. My question is, (a) how difficult can these leaks be to find and fix? and (b) is it even worth fixing in the first place? There is an obvious accumulation of fluid and grime stuck to the underside of the car...probably a grapefruit sized glob if you scraped it all off and stuck it together. I'm confortable replacing things like brakes, belts, and hoses, but would never take a transmission off a car and tear it apart...just don't have the time, space, tools, or know-how. Taking one off intact to replace oil seals would be pushing it, but I'd try if it's not too hard. I'd appreciate any input, and thanks in advance.
