The Mysterious Amazon 'Foot Protector' 120-130

I am told that Volvo made a "foot protector" as an optional part for Amazons sold in the US. I have no idea what this item looks like or what its function was, but I am told it fitted on the bottom of both front seats.

Can any of you shed light on this mysterious optional Amazon part? Thanks for your help.
