with sidelights swiched on - what should light up? 900

When the engine is running and the small daytime running lamps are on (ones above the indicators), when I then switch the lights to the sidelight setting (mid position) should any more front lights come on (i.e in the main headlamp)? Currently nothing else comes on.

With the ignition off, the sidelight setting just switches the daytime running lamps on.

The car is a 1997 940 2.3 celebration. thanks

Thomas
