back on the road 444-544

I installed a pertronix in my 64 a couple of years ago, and haven't had the dist. cap off since. Easy installation, I remember I had to fill a very small amount of material off the unit for clearance. As for the Alternator conversion, I also installed a 1 wire GM with an internal regulator which works very well. My problem was with the bracket. I manufactured one to mount directly to the block using the three bolt pattern that the Generator used. I continued having problems with the pivot bolt breaking which I contributed to the viberation from the engine. (B18's DO shake) I decided the original mounting bracket for the generator was mounted in rubber for a reason, so I modified the original bracket by welding on metal supports for the alternator and have over 2000 miles with no problems. I think I have pictures of the modification if your are interested. Skeet
