While doing some wiring work on the harness that connects to the alternator, i noticed this strange piece. It is right below/between the oil filter and the alternator on the passenger's side.

The threaded end looks like it should fit into a hole that you can't quite see in the photo. It's probably been loose like this since i've owned the car. The previous owner said that the A/C was totally disconnected. Is this part of the A/C system?

I tried my Bentley, but without knowing what i'm looking for, it's a bit of a tough search. I appreciate your help...
